St. Cecilia: a religious musical person
"He who sings, prays twice," said St. Augustine has said. And, says an old proverb: "Where you sing, there let you down evil people know no songs.."
Yes, the singing has a profound significance, both for our lives and for our faith. By singing in our soul resonates in harmony and the harmony of God. The soul thus grow wings and life becomes easier. And by singing invisible bridges can be built: bridges between man and man, but also and especially between man and God.
Today is the anniversary of St. Cecilia. From ancient times, it is revered as a patron of song and music. We do not know in what way has plowed Cecilia singing. One thing is certain: She was a religious musical person. And she was so in a time of religious unmusical, that is full of God afar.
Cecilia died as a martyr. Martyrs are called to bear witness. Cecilia was and is a witness that God wants us to achieve the harmony andthat we are called to share in the harmony of God. This may prevent us from nothing and nobody.

Jerusalem holy dwelling of the Most High

To an ancient tradition, saw Mary before God came in strong in their lives , a virgin and maid at the temple in Jerusalem. The Bible tells us of it but nothing, and historically we know that there was in the Jerusalem Temple in contrast to pagan temples no temple virgins. Nevertheless, we must not see between Mary and the temple has a close link .
Maria was and is a temple of the Holy Spirit. In her heart, God has taken home. And so it is with all her human being to a Place of salvation, peace and blessings become.

St. Elizabeth - a big Unadapted
Our life asks us often from adaptation: adaptation to the place where we live and adapt to our social environment, adapting to different customs and habits. A lot of people raises the question: Do I join in all this? Do I have to add me always unconditionally? I have absolutely no leeway?
One thing is certain: A life in following Jesus can not only be lived to the respective social environment in adaptation and conformity. Jesus himself has not lived in all adapted and compliant, nor his disciples and all the saints, we worship.
Today is the anniversary of St. Elizabeth. She was a true master in the art to adapt not everything and everyone. come as a Hungarian princess as a child on the Wartburg in Thuringia, If she had been committed to the court ceremonial. The relationship with her husband should have been anything but a genuine and passionate love. And of course, strict separation would have been announced to all those who have not complied with the noble conditions, especially the poor. But Elizabeth was Elizabeth. It was you did not let himself be pressed. And so it is up to us today as a great lover, as a social worker for the poor, as a great disciple of Jesus Christ.

: young consequence
In the city center there on the corner Steindlgasse / Kurrentgasse, just behind the Judenplatz a baroque building, which houses a chapel, which is a true treasure of sacred art. Even some good expert on the history of Vienna this house together with its chapel is unknown. But still it is an important point of the sacred topography of the city of Vienna. Here, a saint lived. His name is well known as many as his temporary residence. It is the hl. Stanislaus Kostka.
Stanislaus Kostka was born in 1550, the son of an influential Polish aristocratic family and went to study with his brother in Vienna. Here he attended the Jesuit school and lived in the house said. More and more he had the desire to become a Jesuit himself - against the will and the bitter resistance his family. In his request, he was strengthened by a number of visions in which he saw Jesus and the Christ Child. About Dillingen in Augsburg, he finally came to Rome, where he was admitted to the Jesuitennoviziat, but even as a novice, barely 18 years old, died.
I admire about the young Stanislaus Kostka consistency with which he wanted to be close to Christ in the consecrated life. In this sense, he is well regarded as a great intercessor for the youth of today.

St. Josaphat: for the one and holy Church
The so-called "great faith" we demonstrate our commitment to the "one, holy, catholic and apostolic church. "Every four properties of the church are related. One can not separate them from each other. If a property is weakened, then so are the others. This is why it is so important that the different Churches and Ecclesial Communities are back together . For if they separated from one another, there are also the perfect holiness of the Church has received not quite
one who stood up for the goal of unity of the churches, we are celebrating today as a day Saints.. the St. Josaphat advertised it in 17. . century that the Orthodox Christians join in his Ukrainian homeland to the so-called "Uniierte Church", ie a church, under the auspices of the Pope is, but in many other areas certainly respects her Orthodox face.
The promotion of unity and thus for the sanctity of the church paid Josephat with his death. He was killed by Orthodox zealots. His vision was far from all right. But she could not be eradicated. And it must also become a target of the first order for us that the Church is one.

St. Martin: meekly in high office
He was a monk and missionary. On the way he had on his life throughout today's Central Europe, from Pannonia to Gaul. should began his career as a soldier ends his earthly course in office the bishop - a position which he accepted reluctantly. The legend says that geese were at fault because they revealed through their chattering the place where he wanted to escape the episcopal dignity.
The speech is of course the St.. Martin, whose memorial the Church celebrates today. We all know him as a great saint of charity. This we should not forget that he was also a great saint of God or the love of Christ.
Before Christ had St. Martin such a high reverence for him so much he wanted to point that it occasionally in solemn religious services not on the episcopal chair was, but on a milking stool, he was put next to it. This was St. Martin expressed quite obvious that the actual head of each worship service is Christ himself. For St.. Martin was solid certainty that Christ is the leader and perfecter of our faith.

mother and head of all churches of the earth
The Church celebrates this Sunday, as every year on 9 Dedication of the Lateran Basilica November, in Rome. This festival may appear superficially unusual. Why do we celebrate the dedication of a Roman basilica? And if they did, then why not the Church anniversary of St. Peter's Cathedral? A look at the history of the Church provides assistance: Lateran Basilica out since ancient times the title "mother and head of all churches of the earth." It is the oldest pope Church of Rome, built before St. Peter's. The Lateran and the Vatican was on 4 to 14 Century, the official residence of the popes.
When we celebrate the dedication celebration of the Lateran Basilica, then we may remember that we are incorporated as a community and as individual Christians in the expanse of the universal Church and that this world's in Rome has a collecting point of unity. For many visitors to the Eternal City is the experience of the universal Church a lasting memory. Second, today's feast reminds us how each Kirchweihtag but also because the church is built of living stones, we himself, and that God has chosen this building to the residence among the people.

Who Really Makes Guide Gear
Sts. Willibrord and the dancing procession
Our Christian Europe - where it is still Christian - rests in large part on the foundations of Irish and Anglo-Saxon mission of the 6th, 7th and 8 Century. One of the most missionaries of that time was St.. Willibrord, who came from England to mainland Europe. He worked as a missionary, especially among the Frisians, was bishop of Utrecht and founded several monasteries, including one in Echternach in Luxembourg today. There he was buried. To date, he is mainly in the Netherlands, Luxembourg and greatly revered in the Lower Rhine.
in Echternach each year, the St. Willibrord in honor of the so-called Spring procession. Thousands take part. The pilgrims move forward in this procession in a way that they once sideways to the left and then jump back to the right side. Sure they are thus not particularly fast to its goal, ie to the tomb of St. Willibrord, but they come with joy to their destination and, above all, they are commonly linked. The jump happened in the same clock. We
the dancing procession can somehow be understood as an image of the pilgrim Church, not individual tear before, no one makes capers, the slower ones to come, everything happened in joy and community.

St. Leonard: the free chains
Today Day Saints, St. Leonard, is known not only as a patron for the cattle, and in a special way for the horses, he is also known as "chain saint." It is hereby a patron and helper for all those who are in chains, in a special way so for the prisoners.
Leonard is in the 6th century have lived and conceived by the Holy Bishop Remigius of Reims baptism. He lived as a hermit in the forest, preached from his cell and healed the sick who came to him. He regularly visited prisoners and reached for many of them for the release. Later, Leonhard have founded a monastery and the monastery is to be provided were as abbot.
we linger a little on the shape of the chain of saints. Which could chains St. Leonard through his intercession free us? Perhaps from the chains of fear and worry? Of the chains of an oversized selfishness? From the chains of being exposed to other people? From the chains of some bad habits, maybe even some addiction? Yes, it exists in our lives - the chains. In general, they are invisible. Sometimes we do not even know them or are we unaware of them. One thing is certain: if we open ourselves in faith to God, we may hope that such chains are broken more and more. And we must learn what is expressed beautifully in an Old Testament Psalm: "You lead me out into the distance, you make my darkness bright"

St. Charles Borromeo: a model bishop
The Second Vatican Council insisted on that realizes the great communion of the Catholic Church in the local churches.
"local church" - that is the local church, but in a special way the religious community in a diocese under the leadership of a bishop. Without the experience of church life in the local churches would our understanding of the church something essential is missing. The bishop as pastor of a local church plays an important role. He trains three times a service: the proclamation of the Word of God, the sanctification of God's people through the sacraments, and finally the leadership of the People of God by seeking unity.
We remember today the Saint. Charles Borromeo. He was in the 16th Century bishop of Milan and as such is a good shepherd. No way to those who believe he was too far, no service to them too difficult. He saw himself in his office, not least as a "father of the poor" because he knew that Christ identifies with them in a special way and are the poor so that a special treasure of the church.
Charles Borromeo was a model bishop. His feast day may be a reminder not to forget the bishops of our time in our prayers.
