How To Find A Sweet Pinot Noir
St. Teresa of Avila: confidence and composure
"Nothing is to confuse you, nothing frighten you
.
misses everything.
God alone remains the same.
Patience achieves everything.
Who has God lacks nothing.
God alone suffices. "
Those are the words of St. Teresa of Avila, whose memorial the Church celebrates today. We see in it a fascinating religious founder, and a great mystic. She stood with both feet on the ground of this world and yet had their heart in the sky. She was a woman full of impetuous passion, yet open and sensitive. From it we learn two main qualities we need in our lives over again: the confidence and serenity.
"God alone suffices," said Teresa of Avila. If we know that God is present in our lives, then we should not so easily be tormented by worry. And if they torture us yet, then we can be said of Theresa: "Everything passes." Nothing in this world endures, not even the seemingly insurmountable stone on our way of life. Only God endures. He is the eternal. And he is also our innermost secrets. So why should we despair?
